The Mana Dorks

About

The Mana Dorks is a simple concept… I want everyone to love Magic: The Gathering as much as I do. I hope that those who read any of this who are considering picking it up a hobby do so. I hope that those who have played it before but have been away for a long time come back to it. I want to do my best to strengthen the Magic community in my town of Murfreesboro, TN and hopefully inspire others to do the same for their hometowns.

FAQ’s

Is Magic: The Gathering an Expensive Hobby?

The answer here is it certainly can be. Magic has an impossibly vast selection of cards to create your decks from. While two cards may have similar effects, one may be more efficient to play such as having a lower mana cost, thus making the cards a pricier option to the other. You can build an effective, and more importantly, a really fun deck using less efficient cards all while saving your bank account.

What’s the best way to get into Magic: The Gathering?

The best place to start is by purchasing a preconstructed deck such as a Commander deck. These decks are play ready and include a ton of solid includes for any decks. This means they are very easy to upgrade down the road once you have gotten use to how the game operates. These preconstructed decks cost anywhere from $40 to $50.

How can I play if I have no one to play with or no shops to play at?

Magic can be tricky to get into if you don’t have a group to actually play with or share interest in the hobby with. Luckily, Spelltable exists! This is a website that anyone with internet access can go to for free. As long as you have a computer and webcam, you can play paper Magic with friends or even make new ones with their matchmaking.
